Our Foxhunt History
Hoosier Hills Ham Club members have been holding monthly foxhunts (2 meter transmitter hunts) since sometime in the late 1980s. Mike Wright KF9NP and Terry Hudson KT9V were some of the earliest hunters that got the ball rolling, and hunts have been maintained consistently ever since. In the early days, the fox would hide with a cassette tape of audio or would read from books to transmit. By the early 2000s we hunted a shared transmitter “fox box” that consists of an HT attached to Byonics Piccon fox transmitter controller , which is the method we still primarily utilize today for our fox transmitter. We have tried to locate our hunt history over the years, and have reasonably consistent hunt data going back to the end of 2002. (If you come across any information on our hunts from missing years, such as old club newsletters, please let us know!)
